Asleep In The Boat

Dear friends and family,

Umbangingi

We are giving thanks to God for a successful week of meetings with two different adoption entities. The first was a man from Singapore and the second was a group from

Jakarta. God has made a way for us as we went through what looked like pretty stormy seas. We were at times in turmoil anticipating what would happen to Dina, it seemed to us that Jesus was asleep in the boat. “And behold, there arose a great storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered with the waves; but Jesus Himself was asleep.” (Mat 8:24 NASB) Finally a few days before the meeting began we were truly able to in faith curl up with the UmanenengLord Jesus and weather the storm together. At rest that His good providence would reign over us and the adoption process.

This adoption has been so much more that we ever imagined. The refining fires of God’s sanctification have been revealing many areas of living in the flesh. We would like to ask you to pray with us, there is a necessary final adoption meeting that was scheduled for December. At this point that meeting has been indefinitely canceled. We are praying that the meeting would still happen this December. If God is blessing this adoption process we are confident, nothing can stop it.

Many of you are aware that we are brainstorming about How God might have us begin literacy work in the village. The goal is to prepare people to be readers of God’s word. In God’s wisdom He gave us a historical record in order that we can know Him. It has been preserved for us and if God enables us, Udithese people will eventually be able to read and understand God’s word for themselves. Those are the long tern goals. What it means for us right now is to begin investigating where and how we should begin our literacy work. Please support us in prayers as we look to the Lord for His leading.

We’ve included some pictures of the people we have been spending a lot of time with lately (More pictures can be found HERE). All of these people are not only our neighbors but also language helpers and more than that our friends. God has definitely been taking us deeper into these peoples lives. We are hopeful that the result will be their re-birth for the Glory of God. Pray for these people, only God can do it.

We too need your prayers that we would not fall into the trap of thinking like the 10 spies who knew God’s word and promises but focused on the circumstances instead. We need to be like Joshua and Caleb who saw the giants and the walled cities and held on more firmly to the precious promises of all mighty God!

After His Glory,

Tim & Andrea Ullum
